Awaruku Stream Erosion Remediation

In Early 2018, Auckland Council identified a need to mitigate ongoing erosion along 120m reach of the Awaruku Stream located in Torbay. Awaruku Stream directly flows into the Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve.
Soft engineering solutions were designed by Morphum Environmental to provide lasting erosion mitigation while avoiding additional temporary and permanent environmental impacts.
The stream restoration works involved completion of:
– 2x floodplains (717m2 combined)
– 4x rock riffles
– 4x lizard & fish habitats/refuges
– 2x rock bunds
– 1x reshape wetland pond outlet
– 3x emergency slip/erosion remedials
– Planting of native species
