Gabion Wall Replacement, Lynfield Reserve

A retaining wall (44m) in the Wairaki Stream that runs through Lynfield Reserve is constructed using gabion baskets. The baskets were beginning to fail which would eventually had led to the wall collapsing. The consequences of the wall collapsing would have been 1) a large detrimental sediment load being introduced to the stream 2) the risk of adjacent land being eroded.
