Stormwater Upgrade, Lake View Rd, Takapuna

Lake View Rd, Takapuna is located adjacent to the protected Lake Pupuke and was prone to frequent flooding during the wet Winter months. The Stormwater Upgrade and Flood Mitigation works involved installing almost 1,000m of new stormwater pipe using open cut trenching, HDD and axis/pipe jacking methods. Kerry Drainage & Civil were able to reduce the area of carriageway reinstatement by utilising trenchless methods as much as possible.
The pipe line extended from Killarney Park through to Rangitira Ave, and formed a new outlet into Lake Pupuke.

The works included installation of 27 catchpits, including HUSH pits, where all were fitted with tetra traps to capture debris and prevent solid pollution into the lake. Additionally, approximately 32 house connections where diverted from kerb-outlets to direct-connections which meant the upgrade network met Council SW Standards.
